Image-building-landscape-search. Near and far, anonymous databases of images populating images of cubicles in nondescript cities.
The Google Image search functionality emerged in the early 2000s allowing users to use keyword prompts to search images on the then new search engine. After the Image-Code series which used only From 2005 to 2009, I created photographic works using image-generating software that "remade" photographs using images from Google databases according to keywords. Softwares were open-source and obtained from copyleft communities. Some series are made using historical photographs of crowds, others are my own photographs, and others are Google Earth screenshots of clouds, all repopulated with images from Google images databases.
Keywords relate to archetypal themes and genres in the history of art, or reverse the content of the image with the meaning of the keywords.
