Isabel Löfgren, b. 1975, lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
I am a Swedish-Brazilian artist and researcher based in Stockholm. As an artist, I am interested in collective acts of memory-making and belonging through site-specific art and media interventions, writing, and education. See art and exhibitions.
As a researcher, I have written extensively about media and art activism, social movements, and visual politics in contested urban, environmental, and political scenarios, and artistic research. See publications and presentations.
I am a Senior Lecturer in Media and Communications at Södertörn University, and I am the Chair of Culture & Communication at EcoJust - Ecologically and Socially Just Sustainability Transformations at Södertörn University.
I have a B.A. in Studio Art from Smith College (USA), an MFA from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), and a Ph.D in Media & Communications, in the Division of Philosophy, Art and Critical Thought, European Graduate School (Switzerland). I also have training in art curating at Curatorlab, Konstfack, in addition to post-professional courses in art and critical architecture at the Architectural R-Lab and OPILab at the Royal Institute of Art (Sweden).
